POSITION DESCRIPTION: Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Accounting Manager will be a hands-on accounting leader responsible for the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of the Company’s general accounting and financial close processes. This role will lead key areas of the month-end and year-end close and will serve as a technical and operational accounting resource across the organization by clearly communicating accounting requirements, risks and conclusions to stakeholders. The ideal candidate will bring deep general accounting expertise, leveraging their experience with inventory and cost accounting in a multi-location environment, and a working knowledge of tax matters. The Accounting Manager will act as a “Player-Coach,” leading and developing Accounting Team members, while overseeing and reviewing their work to ensure accuracy, and will be comfortable rolling up their sleeves and diving into the details as needed. As an integral part of the Accounting Team, the ideal candidate will flex their strategic skills, driving stronger controls, scaling processes and streamlining consistent accounting practices across the growing organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead key aspects of monthly and year-end close, ensuring accurate and timely completion of journal entries, account reconciliations, and related financial reporting reviews
Review balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules across key accounts, while being responsible for completion of reconciliations surrounding higher-risk or judgmental areas
Own the company’s general accounting processes and related policies, ensuring consistent application of U.S. GAAP
Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and system enhancements that improve close speed, accuracy, visibility, scalability, and control effectiveness
Lead, and develop Accounting Team members by establishing clear responsibilities, expectations, close deadlines, and accountability while supporting professional development, cross-training, and succession planning
Play a key accounting role in mergers and acquisitions, including purchase accounting and opening balance sheet activities, and post-close integration of accounting processes, policies, systems, reporting, and internal controls
Partner with acquired business and branch finance teams to drive adoption of Solve accounting policies and close standards and to enable accurate, timely consolidation of financial information
Prepare and review ad hoc accounting analyses and technical accounting research for unusual, complex, or non-routine transactions, escalating significant issues and recommended conclusions to the Corporate Controller as appropriate
Support tax compliance and tax-related accounting activities, including coordination of information for income tax, sales and use tax, property tax, and other filings as applicable; partner effectively with external tax resources
Support external audit activities, including preparation and review of schedules, resolution of audit inquiries, and timely completion of requests
Assist with ERP, consolidation, and other finance-system initiatives, including data validation, process design, testing, implementation, and ongoing optimization
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field
Active CPA license required
5+ years of progressive accounting experience
1+ years of people management experience
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and the ability to research, evaluate, document, and communicate accounting conclusions
Meaningful experience with inventory and cost accounting
Working knowledge of tax matters and experience supporting tax accounting activities
Ability and willingness to travel up to 30%
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in a private equity-backed company and/or a high-growth, acquisition-oriented environment
Big Four or other large public accounting firm experience
Experience in multi-location manufacturing, assembly, distribution, or industrial environment
Experience with mergers and acquisitions and/or post-acquisition accounting integration
